Abstract

A commercially available atomic absorption detector coupled to a wide-bore column-containing gas Chromatograph (GC-AAS) was utilized to detect organotin compounds. Speciation was performed by pentane extraction of the organotin species as the corresponding sodium diethyldithiocarbamate complexes, enrichment by rotary evaporation, derivatization with Grignard reagent and finally the extracted water and sediment samples were separated and detected on the GC-AAS system.
