Abstract

In this study, different shellfishes such as Mactra antiquate, Macoma truncata Jonas, Solen Grandis, Dosinorbis japonica, Meretrix meretrix, Sanguinolaria chinenss and Scapharca broughtonii were collected in the Chang-le Mussel resource protection Area, Fujian province. The contents of total selenium, inorganic selenium and organic selenium in different shellfishes were determined by hydride atomic fluorescence spectrometry. The results showed that the selenium contents in study area were in the middle, however, significant differences were found among different shellfishes. The total selenium contents of Solen Grandis was the highest (0.498~0.898 μg g−1), followed by Scapharca broughtonii (0.508 μg g−1) and Sanguinolaria chinenss (0.507 μg g−1). And the inorganic selenium of Scapharca broughtonii was the highest (0.229 μg g−1), followed by Solen Grandis (0.224 μg g−1) and Mactra antiquate (0.125 μg g−1). At most station, the proportion of organic selenium to total selenium in shellfishes was between 54.6% and 89.6%, indicating that organic selenium is the main form.
