Abstract
This study defines and analyses potentials of technical universities in the development of language skills of students and certain conditions stimulating improvement of professional language culture that are characterized by: 1) linguistic competence of instructors and students; 2) availability of the most mo-dern informational and technological facilities for students to ensure conditions for independent studies; 3) studentâs adaptation to a specific linguistic environment of a higher school and becoming a full member of the academic society.Only when such conditions are created, academic environment that stimulates the improvement of language culture can be achieved.
