Abstract

‘THEY ARE getting on nicely, aren't they?’ commented Mrs Harpoon, as she peered round the corner of Mrs Lagoon's early years class. Her comment was a stock phrase she emitted whenever any classroom was silent and the children were what she called ‘busy’. Visiting Ofsteds generally made the same comment, as did parents, governors and most visitors.
