Special Section on the Value of Scholarly Book Reviews

Abstract

For this special section of the Journal of Scholarly Publishing on the theme of post-publication review of scholarly books, guest co-editor Steven E. Gump took the lead in inviting contributors and offering feedback on their contributions. In his introduction to the special section, Gump draws the contributions together in conversation and presents some of his own views on book reviewing. The co-editors thank him for bringing in a rounded set of perspectives on reviewing to a journal that regularly publishes book reviews but less often reflects on their value.
