Abstract

The International Psoriasis Council (IPC) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing psoriasis research and treatment by providing a forum for education, collaboration and innovation among physicians, researchers and other professionals interested in psoriasis. Each year, IPC identifies the top papers in psoriasis research. Papers are nominated for inclusion by the IPC Board of Directors and then circulated to the IPC membership to identify the most important papers. This selection of top papers includes articles that enhance our understanding of adaptive and innate immunity in psoriasis, the genes that lead to psoriasis susceptibility, clinical research focusing on a new class of drugs, a TNF-inhibitor studied in children, and a population study that uncovers an increased risk of mortality. Summaries were constructed by Elizabeth Horn, Ph.D., M.B.I.; and Hervé Bachelez, M.D., Ph.D., and Mona Ståhle, M.D., Ph.D., provided expert commentary on each article and its value to clinical practice.
