Abstract
SIGCSE received 15 Special Projects grant proposals for the May 2012 funding cycle. The Special Projects Committee is pleased to announce that the following four grants have been awarded: Anthony Allevato and Steve Edwards, Virginia Tech, "Pythy---A Cloud-Based IDE for Novice Python Programmers" (http://pythy.cs.vt.edu/). This project will develop a Web-based environment in which novice programmers can write and run Python programs and access documentation and tutorials. This environment reduces the barriers students often face if they have to install development tools on their own computers.
