Abstract
The 2013 ASCE International Workshop on Computing in Civil Engineering (IWCCE) was held in Los Angeles from June 23–25, 2013. The IWCCE’s objective is to advance the body of knowledge of civil engineering—and to improve its practice— by promoting current and emerging computing and information technologies. In particular, the 2013 IWCCE aimed to broaden the spectrum of participating civil engineering sub-disciplines. As a result, the following five state-of-the-art computing tracks in civil engineering were organized: Resilience and Smart Structures, Sustainability and Environment, Geo-Modeling and Geomechanics, Intelligent Transportation, and Construction Automation and Information Technology. This special issue presents extended versions of twelve papers selected from the five tracks of the IWCCE. Brief introductions to each paper follow.
