Abstract

Chirp occurring within optical pulses from gain-switched semiconductor lasers causes significantproblems in their applications. However, a common expression giving the chirp estimationmay not be fully applicable in actual experiments. Simple and precise methods for carryingout the chirp estimation are required in such a field. In this paper, problems and their solutions about chirp estimations from gain-switchingoptical pulses are reviewed laying stress on our results obtained from related studies.
