Abstract

Abstract : Historically, Army Special Forces have been called on to accomplish missions in support of political and military objectives throughout the world and across the operational continuum. There is little reason to think future Special Forces capabilities will be in any less demand. In fact, virtually all observers see an increased role and utility for the Army's unconventional warriors. Special Forces are assigned seven principal missions, each calling for mastery of a wide variety of individual and collective skills. will these skills enable Special Forces soldiers to accomplish these principal missions in the future? This paper will explore new as well as old skills that Army Special Forces will need to accomplish their seven principle missions for the 2010-2020 timeframe.
