Abstract

Volume 39, Issues 2–4 of The Review of Black Political Economy have featured articles on the economic status of women of African descent. These papers were originally presented at a symposium “The Invisible Woman: The Status of and Challenges Facing Black Women” co-sponsored by Bennett College for Women, The Research Network on Racial and Ethnic Inequality, Duke University and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) on March 18–19, 2011. The symposium papers were to be published as a single special issue. However, due to a miscommunication, the symposium papers were published separately across several issues. In this issue, we publish the remaining papers. This special series of articles is dedicated to the memory of Linda Datcher Loury, A memoriam by Glenn Cartman Loury appeared in Volume 39, Issue 2, “Reflections on an Intellectual Partner: My Life with Linda Datcher Loury,” Pages 223–226.
