Abstract

The conclusions reached at the conference "Rare Book and Manuscript Libraries in the Twenty-first Century," convened at the Houghton Library of Harvard University in 1992, summarized here, provide a context for the Flair Symposium of 2000. Some issues have changed; others have not. The newer technologies have produced aids and challenges for scholarly research.
