Special announcement from The Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists.

Abstract

Three months after Edward H. Angle's death in 1930, his former students and other orthodontic luminaries of the day were compelled to reorganize the Angle Society, which had been initially formed in 1922 when Angle reigned supreme. The original society disbanded briefly at the time of Angle's death, but was deftly reorganized in Chicago by a group of men and women with a common dedication to and respect for Angle's memory and ideals. The central body of the society was subsequently divided into seven geographic components, each serving as an entrance opportunity for those applicants sufficiently motivated to join. Membership is still available to any deserving candidate who meets the society's educational and admissions criteria.Since its inception, the Angle Society has flourished as a clinical and academic forum for fraternal dissemination of the ideas, innovations, and accomplishments of its members. It was aptly named “The Ultimate Study Club” by the late Dr Sheldon Peck, who spent his professional career perpetuating Edward H. Angle's legacy.In collaboration with our esteemed sister organization, the Angle Society of Europe, an initiative was devised and perpetuated by Drs Renato Cocconi and Ute Schneider-Moser with the intention of maintaining an educational environment for the world's residents who were deprived of attending lectures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The popularity of this project became so vast that the Planning Committee decided to continue the series of virtual learning. Speakers and discussants involve forward-thinking dental specialists from throughout the world, exploring a wide array of topics pertaining to contemporary clinical and didactic topics. No financial incentive was involved in the organization or presentation of the webinars. In fact, the original financial responsibilities for establishing the virtual series, including worldwide Internet transmission, were absorbed by the two founders of the webinars.We invite registered postgraduate residents, faculty, and orthodontic alumni to enjoy the knowledge and enthusiasm that typifies the Angle Society by viewing the webinars.
