Abstract

Carl Dreyer (1889-1968) is the subject of this analysis which concentrates on his three most accessible sound films - Day of Wrath, Odet and Gertrud. Often regarded as esoteric and challenging, Dreyer has rarely been studied, and this book attempts to reverse the trend.
