Abstract
The incidence of identity theft has increased rapidly in recent years, and is an issue that affects everyone. The result is that to complete many everyday transactions, you have to prove that ‘you are you'. Speaker verification is a technology that can often be overlooked, but systems today are more robust and architectures more flexible than ever before. Part one of this two part survey looks at some of the technological aspects of the technology. Next month we shall focus on the industry participants, case histories and market landscape
