Abstract

A speaker-use protection element used to protect a speaker device against an excessive input, and having a lamp (15) connected in series with a speaker unit and housed in a light-shielding case (16), for protecting the speaker unit against an excessive input. The lamp (15) housing case (16) is formed of a conductive material, and sealed with a sealant having a specified conductivity. A gap between lead wires (153A) (153B) of the lamp (55) housed in the case (56) is kept at a specified value and an inert gas is sealed into a lamp body (151) to allow a specified voltage to be applied between the lead wires (153A) (153B), thereby generating discharging, cutting off a current through a filament (154) in the lamp (55) and preventing a rise in lamp (55) temperature.
