Abstract

Objective To understand the spatial-temporal distribution of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in mainland China, and provide data reference for HFRS prevention. Methods The HFRS data (2004-2015) were obtained from China Health Statistical Yearbook and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) . The Excel 2013 and the geographical information system (GIS) were used to analyze the distribution. Results From 2004 to 2015, HFRS incidence fluctuated by season; the average annual incidence, morbidity and mortality were 13 237 cases, 1.00/100 000 (0.66/100 000-1.93/100 000) and 1.02% (0.46%-1.31%) . The annual incidence rates had been lower than1.00/100 000 since 2007, and the fatality rates had been lower than 1.00% since 2012. The HFRS incidence in traditional epidemic areas such as Helongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning Province had declined significantly. Conclusions The prevalence of HFRS declined in recent years in China, and it might be related to environment improvements, rodent control program, vaccination program, health education and urbanization. Key words: Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome; Hantavirus; Geographical information system
