Spatiotemporal Data and Spatiotemporal Data Models

Abstract

With the rapid development of spatiotemporal information and application, how to manage the spatiotemporal data is increasingly important. Over the years, various spatiotemporal data models, including raster-based spatiotemporal data models (sequent snapshots model and discrete gridding list model), vector-based spatiotemporal data models (base state with amendments model and space-time composite model), time-based spatiotemporal data models (space-time cube model and event-based spatiotemporal data model), and object-based spatiotemporal data models, are developed for spatiotemporal data modeling and data management. In this chapter, spatiotemporal data and spatiotemporal data models will be introduced.
