Abstract

Ground observed O3 data of and its precursors are used in order to investigate the spatio-temporal distribution characteristics and the transport channel of O3 pollution in Jiangsu Province from 2013 to 2019. The results showed that: The monthly O3 concentration distribution in 13 cities of Jiangsu Province can be divided into 3 types: unimodal type, bimodal type, and no-peak type. The diurnal variation of O3 in Jiangsu Province shows a unimodal distribution. The annual average of O3 concentration in most cities displays an increasing trend and characterized by high concentration in the eastern coastal area and low concentration in the western inland area. Three kinds of O3 transport channels have been found in Jiangsu Province: (1) is southeast-to-northwest transport channel: The source is located in southern Jiangsu, Shanghai and northern Zhejiang, or in the belt along Yancheng-Huai'an-Suqian-Xuzhou in Huaibei region; (2) is the transport channel from north to south: the O3 is transported from northern Jiangsu, northern Anhui and southern Shandong to the south; (3) is the southwesterly transport channel: the O3 is generated in Nanjing and transported in a short distance to Yangzhou and Taizhou. Three typical synoptic patterns, including high pressure ridge pattern, subtropical high pattern and westerly wind pattern were summarized according to the circulation at 500 hPa.
