Abstract

Shakhman, Iryna, Bystriantseva, Anastasiia. Spatio-Temporal Analysis of the Ecological State of the Dniester River Transboundary Water. Journal of Ecological Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 9, Р. 119–127.

Highlights

  • Water resources are national wealth, the natural basis for the economic and social well-being of the people of any country

  • The analysis of changes in the ecological state of the Dniester River in time and in space for 2020 using fishery standards that better characterize the change in the state of the river was performed

  • There is a decrease in the average annual concentrations of the hydrochemical parameters (Suspended solids, Nitrites, Chlorides, Sulphates) lower the maximum permissible concentration (MPC)

Summary

Introduction

Water resources (surface, underground and sea) are national wealth, the natural basis for the economic and social well-being of the people of any country. They support livelihoods for people, flora and fauna and are limited and vulnerable, especially when it comes to transboundary water resources and bodies. The intensive use of surface water resources by neighboring coastal countries for the needs of industry, agriculture, energy, transport leads to a change in the ecological state of transboundary basins. The degradation of water resources, especially in the context of climate change, still leaves on the agenda the issue of transboundary water cooperation – integrated water resources management (taking into account the economic interests of the development of coastal neighboring countries and the protection of water resources)
