Abstract

Spatially resolved spectra of the low-excitation Herbig-Haro (HH) objects HH 7, HH 11, HH 43 B, and HH 43 C and of the high-excitation object HH 43 A, obtained with the echellette spectrograph at the 3.5-m telescope and the coude spectrograph at the 2.2-m telescope of the Calar Alto Observatory, were studied in the spectral range between 3700 and 10,000 A. A considerable number of new lines were detected in all five objects. The spatial distributions of the intensities and the radial velocities were investigated. Using the forbidden line ratios, the spatial distributions of the electron temperature and density were determined. 53 refs.
