Abstract

The light propagation in the realistic neonatal head model is predicted by Monte Carlo method to obtain the spatial sensitivity profile. The model consists of 158*128 square elements which are specified their optical properties. The delta-scattering technique is implemented for the neonatal head model to keep the computation time within reasonable limit. The spatial sensitivity profile for the complex head model is compared with that for the simple five layered ellipse model. The light propagation in both models is affected by the cerebrospinal fluid. The distortion of spatial sensitivity profile around sulcus structure can be observed in the complex neonatal head model.
