Abstract

With the development of geomatics technology, the acquisition of spatial data becomes more and more diverse. Close range photogrammetry is a very important and traditional way to measure the world without direct contact. In this paper the authors discussed data acquisition by close range photogrammetry, but it broken through the limitation of traditional stereo image pair and professional camera in photogrammetry by focusing on the ordinary single image as the object to study. In this paper, the authors analyzed how to use the implicit information of the image (such as parallel lines, perpendicular lines) to implement distance measurement. Due to the distortion, the parallel lines might not be in parallel anymore in the image, and they would intersect at a point (named vanishing point). The paper exposed the principle of single image measurement using vanishing point and other known condition. Through this method, the spatial measurement based on ordinary single digital image could be implemented.
