Abstract

This entry provides an introduction to spatial journalism, its context, application in today's digital media era, and future directions for research. Spatial journalism is a theoretical framework that examines the intersection between journalism, mobile technology, and location‐based services. The role of location has always existed in the journalism practice but the connection of making location prominent in all aspects of the practice from news gathering to dissemination has been somewhat invisible. Spatial journalism provides one perspective of expanding the possibilities of location in the digital and mobile media era.
