Abstract
The function of GIS is to establish the position of objects and perform spatial analysis. This paper introduces the analysis of spatial information using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). The research examines the SVG spatial representation model, SVG topology model, SVG-based Spatial Extended SQL (SSESQL), the creation of topological operators and basic spatial analysis operators in order to support spatial representation, spatial query and spatial analysis using SVG. Through experimentation and comparison with other technologies for similar purposes, the algorithms developed here can be used to not only implement the spatial query, such as accessing spatial geometric elements and attributes, spatial measurement and spatial direction definition, but also to create the spatial topology for basic spatial analysis such as buffer, intersection and union operators for analysis of spatial overlap. Finally, these approaches are implemented to create a software platform called ‘Spatial Information Service System’ that focuses on the integration of multiple sources of spatial information as a publishing and server platform for various applications in different fields.
