Abstract

Some literature suggests that population density, size of a city, and how the population is distributed - together known as urban form - have an impact on energy consumption in urban areas. This paper explores two ideas: (1) whether or not energy efficiency improvement would result from compacting a previously disbursed city, and (2) what land use policies would reduce energy consumption in urban areas.
