Abstract

This article proposes a spatial model of political competition which explicitly separates the effect of change in policy distance on voting behavior from that of the initial policy distance. It is revealed in examining the model that the effect of change in policy distance is the key in arguments on parties’ “move”. Such an effect should be measured statistical analyses using panel datasets.
