Abstract
The degree of spatial coherence on the exit face of optical fibers, excited by a spatially incoherent source, has been evaluated assuming that the guided modes are represented by Hermite-Gauss polynomials. Experimental results, obtained with quasi-monomode and multimode parabolic fibers, are shown to agree very well with our theory.
