best carried out on three levels: first, a further extension of the empirical investigation of other correlates of situs; second, the further conceptualization and operationalizing of other aspects of occupation in addition to situs and stratum; and third, the enlargement and codification of imaginative insights into the nature of occupational effects through increasing use of intensive case studies of particular occupations, an area of research which has grown consistently in the past few years.
