Abstract
On Nov 9, in a court in Madrid, Spain, a senior anaesthetist was found guilty of negligence, having delegated a difficult endotracheal intubation to a junior colleague. The fourth-year resident's attempts at the procedure had resulted in tracheal laceration and permanent paralysis of the left vocal cord.
