Abstract

We assess the impact of channel estimation errors in the uplink of a multicarrier code-division multiple-access (MC-CDMA) system. Channel estimates are computed by means of the least-meansquare (LMS) algorithm and are passed to either a linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector or to a non-linear parallel interference cancellation (PIC) receiver. Both single-antenna and multiple-antenna receivers are considered. It is shown that the system performance depends heavily on the quality of the channel estimates, confirming that channel estimation plays a crucial role in the uplink of the network.
