Abstract
In agreement with the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee recommendations, some EADS-Astrium spacecraft have been recently disposed of on a graveyard orbit at the end of their operational life. This disposal poses new challenges to the AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control System) design. Two recent examples of such operations are described in this paper, based on in-orbit data: the Eurostar 2000 geostationary satellite and the SPOT 1 Low Earth Orbit satellite.
