Abstract

This paper presents a new space vector modulation strategy for a single-input dual-output indirect matrix converter (IMC) with two independent three-phase loads. The new IMC consists of the rectifier stage connected to a single three-phase input power supply and the five-leg inverter stage to generate two independent output voltage sources for two different three-phase loads. The operating principle of the proposed IMC is elucidated and the pulse width modulation algorithm based on space vector analysis is described. The suitable switching pattern for the inverter stage allows simple commutation for the rectifier stage. Both simulation and experiment are carried out to verify that the new IMC topology controlled by the proposed space vector modulation can effectively generate two three-phase output voltages with variable magnitudes and frequencies.
