Abstract

Klein tunneling takes place when a particle scatters on a supercritical barrier that is creating particle antiparticle pairs. The authors, using a space-time resolved relativistic quantum field theory approach, show that the transmitted particle does not tunnel through the barrier but is instead produced by modulations in the pair creation rate.
