Application of two different spatial partitioning techniques to determine the dipole moment of the formamide molecule in the crystal indicates approximate cancellation of the effects of molecular truncation introduced by space partitioning and intermolecular interactions, leading to a solid state dipole moment which is in reasonable agreement with the gas phase value.
