Abstract

Diglycine barium chloride monohydrate crystallizes in the orthorhombic system with Z = 4. From rotation and equi-inclination Weissenberg photographs, a 8.302 ± 0.015, b 14.801 ± 0.025, c 9.324 ± 0.015 A.; Z = 4. The d. measured by flotation with I±-bromoform and CCl4 = 2.2, calcd. d. = 2.182. The space group could be uniquely fixed to be the centrosymmetric space group Pbcn - D142h. The principal ns of the crystals were measured for I» = 589 mI¼ at 32° with immersion media of nitrobenzene and I±-bromonaphthalene. The crystals are biaxial and optically neg. with nI± = 1.53990, nI² = 1.59554, nI³ = 1.60225, 2 V = 47°. [on SciFinder(R)]
