Space Debris Mitigation: A Review on Available Techniques

Abstract

The space exploration which has stated since the earlier civilization era provided various interesting scientific facts about the space environment. The contemporary technology and its development significantly aided this journey with various tools and techniques. But simultaneously they triggered space threats in recent years. The significant increase in space debris is a major issue of concern discussed by various countries who are involved in space research activities. Though many researchers identified and suggested numerous ways for eradication of space debris, still it could not be resolved at any level. The space junks muddle the earth’s orbit and hinder the space travel. They are the major threats for space activities. This paper reviews and consolidates various techniques suggested by the scientists for space debris mitigation and identifies the requirements for developing new techniques.
