Abstract

The optimum soybean depth range is narrow, and seed costs, which have doubled in the last 10 years, are the most expensive input for soybean production. Replicated field‐scale (5 to 10 ac) studies were conducted on three New York farms with distinctly different soils to evaluate soybean plant establishment and yield at 1.0‐, 1.5‐, 2.0‐, and 2.5‐inch planting depths.
