Pathogenic fungi have the remarkable ability to undergo morphological changes that can determine their virulence potential. In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Denham etal. identify a fungal morphotype that is uniquely adapted for extrapulmonary dissemination, contributing toward invasive infection and escaping host immune responses.
