Abstract

During December 1968, each of us made separate visits to a number of Soviet institutes and laboratories engaged in space‐physics research. Akasofu visited the Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radiowave Propagation of the Academy of Sciences (IZMIRAN) in Moscow; the Institute of Physics of the Atmosphere and the Institute of Physics of the Earth, both of the Academy of Sciences in Moscow; as well as the Moscow State University, and the Leningrad State University in Leningrad. Wilcox visited the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory and Pulkovo Observatory. In Moscow he visited IZMIRAN, the Lebedev Institute, and the Astronomical Council of the Academy of Sciences.
