Abstract
I am honored to have been selected for this year’s Founder’s Medal. I have attended the Southern Regional Meeting for more than 2 decades and have enjoyed the scientific dialog and networking with colleagues and friends. It is gratifying to see the Southern Regional Meeting thrive, despite the economic downturn and the challenges faced by regional meetings. I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to the Council for this honor. I specifically want to acknowledge Drs. Sanders and Weber who have infused vitality and vibrancy into this organization.
