Abstract

Opioid treatment programs (OTPs) are required under South Carolina law to use pharmacists in the dispensing of methadone. Only two states — South Carolina and Georgia — require that a pharmacist prepare the medication for both take‐home and on‐site administration. In most states, nurses dispense and administer methadone. HB 3365 would remove the requirement for pharmacists to administer medication, including take‐homes.
