Abstract

This memoir from the 2000s reflects on the role of AIDS activism and research in the struggle for antiretroviral treatment both globally and in South Africa. It draws on personal experiences and touches on the Long Life body-mapping project to discuss the challenges posed by stigma and notions of masculinity that undermine access to treatment for men.
