Abstract

This article presents scenarios regarding the short- to medium-term future of South Africa’s response to HIV and AIDS. Policy demands, tensions and outcomes will be determined by how effectively the country responds to the particular challenges of inequalities in human resources management, financing and general health systems strengthening. Policymakers need to take particular cognizance of the inequities within South African society in general, and in the health system in particular.
