Abstract

The rich variety of illustration in children's books past and present has encouraged much interest. Some of this interest has been popular and based on nostalgia, and some has been academic, showing itself in students' projects and various forms of research. Though well-documented, children's book illustration is an area where sources of information are not always obvious and accessible. The sources discussed are intended to introduce those starting on research to some of the most accessible materials, and also to indicate to librarians some of the most useful aids.
