Abstract

This bibliography section contains the archival sources and the list of reference books and articles that occur in this book titled Knowledge and Colonialism: Eighteenth-century Travellers in South Africa. The book analyses how Southern Africa was represented in words and images during the period when the Cape Colony was under the jurisdiction of the voc (Dutch East India Company) and the Dutch state (1652-1814). The author have generally emphasised the ethnographic representations in travel accounts and in images. All travel accounts have something to say about the culture and the appearance of the indigenous population.Keywords: Colonialism; Dutch East India Company; South Africa
