Abstract

Most current research activities in the field of optical multicast traffic protection are mainly directed to link failure recovery and (intermediate) node failure recovery. Even with the guarantee of link failure recovery and (intermediate) node failure recovery, optical multicast traffic is still threatened by the catastrophic damage of source failures. Thus, we recently investigated flow p-cycle based dual-source protection approach for source failure recovery on top of combined node and link failure recovery. Results indicated that flow p-cycle based dual-source multicast protection approach outperforms the extended optimal path pair based dual-source approach in capacity efficiency.
