Abstract

The determination of the cross spectral density function of planar, statistically homogeneous radiation sources from their far-field intensity patterns is discussed. A simple argument is presented showing the uniqueness of such determinations, that is, that there is one and only one cross spectral density function for a given intensity pattern. Also, a preliminary discussion of the mathematical problems entailed in calculating the cross spectral density in tractable form is given.
