Abstract

The new ISO standard ISO 12913 (Part 1: Definition and conceptual framework, Part 2: Data collection and reporting requirements, Part 3: Data analysis) describes for the first time a differentiated approach to the description of an acoustic environment in considering the context and perception by the people living there. For measurement, a binaural recording method is normatively specified and for analysis several psychoacoustic parameters are recommended, which bring forth an analysis comparable to the human hearing. Soundscape means not only reducing the level of an acoustic environment but also to create a pleasant sound quality. This procedure will be explained with practical examples.
