Abstract

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) scholarship program is a moribund child. The month of its death is predictable. In June of 1985 the small group of medical students who obtained NHSC scholarships as first-year students in 1981 will graduate — barring a few stragglers and dropouts — and the National Health Service Corps scholarship program will expire at the age of 11 years. Only a handful of medical students obtained new NHSC scholarships this year.
